Climate Change

Contribution to Host Communities
In December 2015, after more than two decades of negotiations, at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Paris, global leaders reached an agreement to combat climate change and adapt to its impact.
Ghana plays a leading role in this process. This section brings you up to date with the latest information on climate change activities at the EPA, in Ghana and internationally.
The Paris Agreement, often referred to as the Paris Accords set out a global framework to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit it to 1.5°C as it also aimed to strengthen the country’s ability to deal with the impact of climate change and support Republic of Ghana in their efforts. 60 per cent of the cocoa used for the manufacturing of chocolate products were imported from Ghana and that this had led to Ghana exporting $17 billion worth of cocoa to Switzerland. As a country, we are committed to fulfilling our climate commitments and the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. We are fully committed to this process.
